Buhari wins in five Edo LGAs, Atiku clinches two
Alexander Okere, Benin

The candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the 2019 presidential election, Muhammadu Buhari, has won in five out of the nine local government areas of Edo State whose results have been announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

Atiku defeats Buhari in 7 of 11 LGAs in Benue
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has taken an early lead in the Saturday’s presidential poll results in 7 of 11 Local Government Areas of Benue already announced.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports on Monday in Makurdi that the results, which are still being collated across the state, showed Atiku leading in Gwer West, Buruku, Logo, Agatu, Apa, Ado, and Obi LGAs.

The results also showed President Muhammadu Buhari trailing behind in four local government areas.

The LGAs so far won by Buhari were; Tarka, Ushongo, Konshisha and Ohimini while results from 12 other LGAs were yet to be released.

Those being awaited are; Gboko, Guma, Makurdi, Katsina, Vandeikya, Otukpo, Ogbadibo, Oju, Kwande, Gwer East, Ukum and Guma LGAs.

The results showed that Atiku won in Logo with 28,227, in Gwer West with 14,660, Buruku with 23,236, Apa with 8,073, Agatu with 8,225, Obi with 7,803 and in Ado he polled 8,614 to take the lead.

Meanwhile the results of the Senatorial results in the state are yet to be released.


Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun has emerged Senator-elect of Ogun Central Senatorial district in Ogun state with 88,110 votes.

Amosun who contested on the platform of the All Progressives Congress defeated his close challenger ,the African Democratic Congress candidate ,Mrs.Titi Oseni-Gomez.


Ekweremadu of PDP wins 5th term in Enugu West Senatorial District
Ike Ekweremadu, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Candidate and Deputy Senate President has been declared winner of Enugu West Senatorial District for the fifth time in Saturday Presidential/National Assembly elections.

Ekweremadu polled 86,088 votes to defeat his closest rival, Mrs Juliet Ibekaku-Nwagwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who scored 15,187 votes.

The Returning Officer, Prof Douglas Nwagbo of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) announced the results in Awgu on Sunday.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that with the victory, Ekweremadu holds the senatorial mandate for the 5th time.

Reacting to the development, the deputy senate president said he was humbled by the result because it was the first time a senator would be voted the fifth time in Nigeria.

He applauded the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for smooth and peaceful conduct of the elections. (NAN)

The House of representatives candidate of the People's Democratic Party in Ibadan North West and South West federal constituency of Oyo state, Mr. Olajide Stanley Adedeji has emerged winner of the house of representatives election

The returning officer Dr. Festus Etadon made the announcement in Ibadan South West local government early Monday morning. 

Mr Olajide Stanley Adedeji polled a total of 28,367 votes to defeat the incumbent from the APC, Mr Saheed Fijabi who polled a total of 25,560, while candidate of the ADC, Mr. Wasiu Olatunbosun and candidate of the ZLP, Mr Abolaji Gbadamisi polled 12,683 votes and 4,639 votes respectively.
